Using our free sound effects & music in YouTube videos
A HUGE number of our members download and use our free sound effects and royalty free music in their YouTube videos, which on last count was around 26% of you. With this we often get asked questions regarding using our sounds for such videos, so this quick blog post is here to answer those questions…
1) Can I Legally use your sound effects and music in my YouTube videos?
Yes. All our sounds and music have been created by professional sound designers and composers and released in our library (mostly) under our Standard License, while a few sounds have been contributed under the CC0 license. The Standard license is an attribution license meaning you can use our sounds and music for free legally, so long as you provide attribution / credit.
2) How should I credit / attribute you on my video?
This is simple, all you need to do is add in the video description something that tells the viewer that the sound effects or music in the video are from zapsplat.com. It may be that all the sounds and music were from us, or maybe just a few. Therefore we always suggest you write something like:
These fantastic sound effects (or music) are from https://www.zapsplat.com
Additional sound effects (or music) from https://www.zapsplat.com
If you don’t want to or can’t credit us, you can remove this requirement with a donation. See here.
3) How many YouTube videos can I use them in?
Okay so this is something that sometimes our users get confused by. Basically, you can download and use our sfx and songs in unlimited videos, so long as you credit us in each one separately (unless you have donated and upgraded, then there is no requirement). If you’ve upgraded to Gold, any sound or song downloaded from our website retains the attribution removal for life.
That’s about it… basically as long as you follow the terms set out in our License Agreement, you can download and use our sounds legally and safely and use them to take your videos to the next level.
