Sound Wave

Winner of Zoom H4N announced and new free packs

We’re delighted to announce the winner of our competition to win a Zoom H4N pro audio recorder as our member ‘Scoozor’. We had almost 300 entries in total and our system picked the winner at random. Whizzing its way to the lucky winner is a brand new audio recorder that they tell us will help them get into recording sounds as a hobby. The Zoom H4N Pro is a fantastic little recorder that raises the bar across the portable recorder range. With low-noise pre-amps and well designed circuitry, it packs a punch and produces professional quality sound effects on the go. Thanks to all of you who entered and we will be running more competitions soon so watch this space!

New sound effect packs added

We’ve been working on some science fiction and magical sound effects this week (among others) and are pleased to announce the release of two new sound effect packs: Science Fiction Alarms and Magic Wands.

Science Fiction Alarms

Free science fiction alarms sound effects packScience fiction sound effects are hugely popular here at zapsplat.com and we are often asked if we can produce more. While we had a few alarms, we decided we needed more. So using a variety different synthesis and composition techniques, we created 25 new ones. These range from larger, louder style alarms, which lend themselves more towards buildings, or large spaces, through to smaller alarm tones, perfect for electronic systems, spaceship controls, vehicle interfaces etc. These can also be found within our main library as well as the pack, if just one or two is what you need. You can preview and download them here

Magic Wand

Magic wand free sound effects packUntil we started working on and doing research for this pack, we didn’t realise just how many different sounds the typical magic wand can make! But seriously, there are many different ways of portraying magic, especially in movies. From the more traditional, light-hearted (and somewhat comical) ping, or fairy dust sounds, to the darker zaps and whooshes used in films such as the Harry Potter series. So while making this pack, we wanted to include a few variations that would work for different genres. This pack contains 33 free magic wand sound effects that include all of the above and a bit more. You can preview and download them here.

More requests

Our new Q&A forum has started to get busy now and we’ve had a few sound effect requests in from users. From magic portals opening through to electronic equipment start ups… we’ve been working on them and update progress as we go. If you have a sound effect you can’t find and want us to make it for you, post it in and we’ll see what we can do. We’re pretty busy but we’ll do our best!
